先日、３年ぶりの授業参観があった。まあ、コロナが原因で様々なイベントがキャンセルされて来て、久しぶりのコミュニティー参加のイベントでした。
授業参観と言っても、日本の様に先生が普段の様に授業をして、子どもが授業を聞いて、その様子を父兄が見学って言うスタイルではありません。
基本的に、全教科のノートを机の上に積み上げ、父兄をそれを好きなタイミングで子どもと会話しながらノートの中身を見たり、教室内を歩き回り、子どもの美術作品を探したり、はたまた、先生が用意したアクティビティーを親子で一緒にしたりと言う感じです。
父兄は受付でチェックインを済ませ、マスクを渡され、手を消毒して学校内に入ります。そして、自分の時間になるまで教室の外で待機していると言う具合。
密を避ける為に苗字のアルファベットで前半(A-N)、後半(O-Z)と分けるシステムを取ったのですが、これが中々難しい。クラスによっては後半に大半の生徒がかたまっていたりね。
日本人の様に時間に正確な感覚を持っている訳では無いので、想像はつくかと思います。
結局、後半時間の教室内はお祭り騒ぎの密状態！！
授業参観の後は通常なら、生徒によるパフォーマンスダンスや、歌、バンド、ストリングスと出し物があるんですけど、大人同士の密を避ける為に校内で子どもとピクニックと言う事になりました。
複数のクラスを教える私に取っては、親御さんと直接話す機会があったので、個人的には開催して良かったと思います。
We recently had my first open day in three years. It was the first community involvement event in a long time, as various events have been canceled due to the Corona disaster.
Classroom visits here are not like in Japan, where the teacher teaches the class as usual, the children listen to the lesson, and the parents observe the class.
Basically, notebooks for all subjects are piled up on their desks, and parents can look at the notebooks while interacting with their child at any time, walk around the classroom and look for their child’s artworks, or do activities prepared by the teacher together with their child.
Parents first check in at the reception desk, are given a mask, sanitize their hands, and enter the school. They then wait outside the classroom until it is their time.
In order to avoid crowding, we took a system of dividing the students into the first half (A-N) and the second half (O-Z) by the letters of their last name, but this was moderately difficult. In some classes, the majority of students were clustered in the second half of the alphabet.
As you can imagine, the parents are not as punctual as the Japanese. After all, the second half of the time was a festive, dense state in the classrooms!
After the class visit, there is usually a performance dance by the students, singing, band, strings, and other entertainment, but to avoid the density, the parents have a picnic with the children in the school.
As I teach multiple classes, I personally think it was an excellent opportunity for me to talk directly with the parents, so I am glad we held this event.
